In 1982, Don Ed Hardy and Francesca Passalacqua created Hardy Marks Publications. Their first publication, Tattootime- New Tribalism, spearheaded a new era of tattoo publishing. To say that Hardy Marks Publications created the genre of tattoo publishing is not an overstatement. For four decades, it was the salient voice for the tattoo arts. Not only did Hardy Marks record the genius art and writing of "the Godfather of Modern Tattooing", Ed and Francesca documented and amplified numerous artists from all over the world, spanning many decades, continents and cultures. Many of us would not have been introduced to the world of tattooing without their publications.

In 2023, the decision was made to pass the company on. We are honored to accept this charge and will strive to continue in the manner with which we think Ed and Francesca would see fit. We will be reprinting many of the original classics, many of which have become unattainable for many in the collector market, as well as create new timely material, all the while, keeping in mind Ed's mission of "advancing our art and culture!"
